Signs Your Windows Need to Be Fixed

Your windows have a big impact on your home’s beauty, comfort, energy efficiency and weather protection. If your windows are showing signs of damage, you need to address this promptly to prevent further issues from developing. Here are the top warning signs that indicate your windows are in need of repair:

Condensation Between the Glass

Condensation found in the middle of the glass is normal. It’s a sign that your windows are keeping the cold out. However, it’s bad news if you see it forming from the bottom or between the panes. If you see this, it means your window’s weatherproof seals are failing. This is a definite sign of water damage. Make sure your contractor fixes this immediately.

Drafts

Close the window and stand next to it. If it works properly, you should feel nothing. However, if it’s closed and there is still a draft, that’s a problem. Having drafts means your windows are not performing well. You might need replacement windows since this might indicate either a failing seal or poor workmanship. It also means heat can easily enter and escape, which could affect your home’s energy efficiency.

Difficult Operation

Try opening and closing your windows. Ideally, they should slide or swing without a hitch. Getting stuck halfway through, or becoming harder to close, could indicate an issue with the mechanism, or it could mean your windows are deteriorating. If they were recently installed, it could be a sign of a faulty installation.
