Top 3 Best Window Styles for Bedrooms

Your bedroom deserves windows that provide ventilation and natural lighting while capturing a great view. After all, the bedroom is where you wake up every morning and turn in every night. Here are the best window styles for bedrooms.

Double-Hung Windows

Many homeowners choose double-hung windows by default because of their versatility. They can be adapted to any architectural style and interior design. For example, Colonial-style grilles and natural wood finishes make a great pair for traditional home styles while sleek frames with a grille-less design are perfect for contemporary design.

Double hung windows can provide ventilation to bedrooms of all sizes, from large master bedrooms to converted attic spaces that have enough wall space for just one window. Creating airflow requires two openings – one for venting air out, another for letting fresh air in – and a solitary double hung window can be opened in such a way that it has both openings. Double hung windows are also ideal as egress windows.

Casement Windows

Casement windows are the only window style that utilizes the entire window area when opened, which allows maximum ventilation and viewing areas. It is also the most energy-efficient window style because the sash sits flush on the frame when closed and creates an airtight seal. It’s important to note that traditionally casement window designs are difficult to clean because of the hinges. Fortunately, today’s casement windows – including the ones we offer at Renewal by Andersen® – feature offset hinges that allow easy cleaning and maintenance.

Bay and Bow Windows

Bay and bow windows are essentially a combination of multiple windows: bay windows have an angular profile and are made of three or more windows, while bow windows have a curved profile made of several smaller, equally-sized windows. Both window styles project from the wall, which allows ample ventilation, a wide view, and additional space that can be used for seating, storage or an extension of the floor area.
