What to Expect in a Typical Window Replacement Project

If this is your first time tackling a window replacement project, you might be wondering what goes into it. Understanding the entire process helps ensure a smooth, hassle-free experience from beginning to end. Here’s a look at what you can expect before, during and after the installation.

Before Installation Day

During this time, you’ll meet with the contractor’s sales representative or scheduler to set your window replacement date. This is where you’ll discuss your preferences for your project so that you get the best windows installed in your home. You’ll also need to drop off your children and pets at a separate location before the installation begins as they tend to roam around and get injured in the process. Your furniture and valuables will be moved around and secured during the window replacement process so they won’t get in the way.

During Installation Day

Professional window installers usually arrive on time and put drop cloths in front of your old windows to catch the debris as they remove them. This helps make the replacement process go along smoothly in the most efficient way possible. Cleanup also becomes easier once all the windows are replaced.

After Installation Day

Once all the windows are replaced, the contractor will inspect all the newly-installed windows for the final time. The team will walk you through the completed project, where they’ll demonstrate how your windows work and get to try opening and closing them yourself.  Expect them to clean the site before they leave and call it a day. Afterward, they’ll ask you to sign a completion certificate once you’re satisfied. They may also email you a customer satisfaction survey in the days following the installation.
